South Bossier Park on Caplis Sligo Rd. is ready for parents to bring their small children to the park’s newest addition, a shaded pavilion complete with playground equipment.

A sidewalk from the parking area to the pavilion has been completed and landscaping along the way will begin soon. Inside the shaded area, young children will have a safe play area designed just for them and both parents and children will have the use of bathroom facilities located nearby.

Warren Saucier, director of the Bossier Parish Police Jury Parks and Recreation Dept., said the playground is an ideal spot for youngsters whose brothers or sisters may be involved in many of the park’s activities for older students. The playground area is also a great place for parents to bring their children just to have fun, Saucier said.

The park’s softball, football, baseball, soccer and lacrosse fields are ready for play and practice.

Saucier said public school cross-country events have already been held on the park’s 100-plus acres and other activities are expected to be scheduled.
