Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College (NLTCC) recently partnered with
Goodwill Industries and ABM to host a two-day industrial floor cleaning class at the Shreveport campus,
providing participants with technical training and valuable life skills.

The first day focused on practical techniques such as floor stripping, polishing, and buffing. On the
second day, students enhanced their soft skills by exploring the “3 R’s” – Are you reliable, relatable, and
relevant? They also operated buffing machines and learned about the wide range of educational
opportunities available at NLTCC.

Participants also met with staff from Student Services and Financial Aid, learned the importance of
earning a HiSET, and toured the campus to explore its programs while connecting with instructors. One
student summed up the experience, saying, “I’m in the right place this time.”

The success of this class would not have been possible without the dedication of Kevin Bounds from
Diversity Cleaning Supplier, who both taught the course and played a key role in organizing it. NLTCC
would also like to extend its thanks to Albert Dyer, Goodwill Career Coach; Chris Clark from ABM; and
Goodwill representatives Patrice Bookman and Janola Gilliam for their valuable contributions.

We are grateful to these partners for their commitment to empowering students and creating pathways
to new opportunities. To learn more about NLTCC programs and upcoming Workforce training, visit
