The North Bossier Lunch group gathered Thursday, Sept. 25, at Providence Classical Academy’s newly opened high school campus, the Scotty Moran School of Rhetoric, located at 4525 Old Brownlee Road.
The meeting featured remarks from Headmaster Howard Davis, who shared insights on the school’s mission, growth, and future plans before leading attendees on a brief tour of the new facilities.
“The purpose of Christian education is not just to inform the mind but to transform the heart,” Davis said. “At Providence Classical Academy, we are shaping students to love truth, pursue wisdom, and glorify God in all they do.”
Founded in 2004, Providence Classical Academy began as a small independent school dedicated to providing a Christ-centered, classical education to students in the Shreveport-Bossier area. The academy opened with just 18 students and a vision to integrate rigorous academics with Christian discipleship. Over the past two decades, Providence has grown steadily, now serving more than 900 students across multiple grade levels.
The addition of the Scotty Moran School of Rhetoric represents the academy’s ongoing expansion. Designed for high school students, the facility emphasizes advanced academics, leadership training, and the art of communication—key pillars of classical education. The school’s name honors Scotty Moran, a longtime supporter of Providence’s mission.
During his remarks, Davis highlighted the importance of the rhetoric stage of classical learning, where students are trained to think critically, articulate their beliefs, and engage thoughtfully with their communities. “This new facility is more than just classrooms—it’s a place where we are preparing the next generation of leaders to speak truth with clarity and conviction,” Davis told attendees.
After the luncheon, guests toured the commons area, classrooms, and other spaces that will serve students in grades 9–12. Many expressed appreciation for the opportunity to see firsthand how the academy is shaping its future while contributing to educational opportunities in Bossier Parish.
The North Bossier Lunch group regularly meets at different locations to spotlight community institutions, businesses, and initiatives making an impact in the region.
