NATCHITOCHES – Northwestern State University will sign a reverse transfer agreement with Bossier Parish Community College that will benefit students who transferred from BPCC to NSU before earning their associate degree. The agreement allows credits completed at Northwestern State to be transferred back to the student’s BPCC transcript to satisfy requirements to earn an associate degree.
“An associate degree is an important credential for an individual to have on his or her resume,” said Dr. Lisa Abney, NSU’s provost and vice president for academic affairs. “Employers value the associate degree as evidence of a commitment to education and it can open doors to job opportunities while a student is still working on the bachelor’s degree. We are delighted to expand our efforts in working with BPCC.”
The signing will take place Wednesday, Aug. 5.
“This agreement rewards students by ensuring that they receive the degrees they’ve earned… and it demonstrates what is possible when partners are willing to innovate across systems to better serve students,” says BPCC Chancellor Dr. Rick Bateman, Jr.
Northwestern State and Bossier Parish Community College already have several agreements in place that facilitate the path for students to achieve their educational goals while meeting workforce needs and promoting economic development in northwest Louisiana.
