NWLA Master Gardners host state convention


The Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners and the Piney Hills Master Gardeners will host the 2013 Louisiana Master Gardeners State Conference on October 8-11, at the Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino/Shreveport in Shreveport.

“Bloomin’ on the Red” is the theme of this open to the public, four day event. The conference will offer a terrific line-up of speakers along with an intimate look at the Shreveport/Bossier Riverfront.

In addition to outstanding speakers, tours, vendors, prizes, and great accommodations, the annual Red River Revel will be in full swing as a special highlight for all participants to enjoy during the conference. The Red River Revel is one of Louisiana’s premier arts festivals. There will also be guided tours of the American Rose Center and the uniquely beautiful Norton Art Gallery gardens.  Three speaker’s tracks will be offered for Health, Sustainable Living and Garden Design.

Chris Olsen, a nationally known home and garden guru, designer, author, and TV personality will be the featured speaker at this year’s Conference. Chris will share his landscape and gardening knowledge along with his unique flair for home decor and design.

Gardening expert, TV/radio host, author & columnist Melinda Myers is also a featured speaker at Bloomin’ on the Red, along with a host of other entertaining and knowledgeable speakers from around the country.
