NWLA Master Gardeners hosting next speaker in horticulture series Aug. 19

The Northwest Louisiana Master Gardeners will host the third speaker in their 2014 Master Gardener Horticulture Series on Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, located at 3015 Greenwood Road in Shreveport.

The talk is free to the public and will feature Ricky Kilpatrick with the Louisiana State University AgCenter. Kilpatrick is the Area Forestry Agent for the northwest/northcentral region with the Louisiana Extension Service of the LSU Agricultural Center. He has worked for the Extension Service for 29 years in this capacity, which  includes responsibilities in eight northwest Louisiana parishes.

He will be speaking on “The Top 10 Yard Tree Problems for Our Area.”  The top tree problem in the Shreveport/ Bossier City area is construction damage, according to Mr. Kilpatrick.  He bases his list on observations of local problems and presents it David Letterman-style.
