Christine was born on October 16, 1921 in Many, LA and passed away on April 5, 2016 in Bossier City, LA. She was the first child of Joseph Floyd and Lilian Rains Cooper. She married Robert Filmore Walker on July 17, 1939 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Many, LA. She had three children, Raymond DeWayne Walker, Wanda Ruth Walker and Robert Richard Walker. Mr. Walker was in the Philippine Islands in September 1945 when her third child was born. They were married for 65 years until his death on July 26, 2004.
Mrs. Walker worked as a beautician for 44 years from the age of 30 until she was 74. She enjoyed her work and made many friends. She still kept in contact with several of her co-workers and customers.
Christine’s pride and joy was her family. Nobody loved their children or grandchildren or was as proud of them as she was. Mr. Walker taught their children how to work, fish, hunt and have a good time. Mrs. Walker fed them, loved them and set a good example.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ruth Montgomery; one brother, Harold Cooper and two grandchildren, Rhea Anne and Jeffrey.
She is survived by 3 children, 4 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter and one sister, Melba Wilson.
Christine was an extraordinary person. We are heartbroken over losing her. We are absolutely assured that she is in Heaven with our father and is free of the illnesses that took her life.
