Obituary: Audrey Fred “Bud” Langley


BENTON – Audrey Fred “Bud” Langley, 75, of Benton, Louisiana passed away on March, 13th, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana. There will be a Celebration of Life held at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, Louisiana on Thursday, March 16th, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Brother Billy Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, March 15th, 2017 from 5 -7 PM at the funeral home.

He was born June 21st, 1941, to James Langley and Viola Mae Langley in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was married to Barbara Saffel on April 30th, 1965 in Bossier City, Louisiana for the last 52 years. He was a retired Aircraft mechanic for the United States Air Force as a TSgt. For 20 years and worked with Royale Airlines, John Franks, TacAir, and Embraer. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Masons, and American Legion.

Fred worked with the Boy Scouts of America in Mountain Home, Idaho and in Benton, Louisiana. He loved the outdoors, camping, and fishing. He was a past Master of the Masonic Lodge #34 in Benton, LA, and he was also an active member of the American Legion Post #202 in Benton, LA. Fred was a member of Cypress Baptist Church. Fred was also a well-loved “PopPop”.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, James and Viola Mae Langley; brothers, Harold Langley, and Sonny Langley.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Langley of Benton, LA; Daughter, Susan Langley Riggs and husband Billy of Bossier City, LA; son, Paul Langley of Pecuilar, MO, Charles Langley and wife Missie of Memphis, TN; 4 grandchildren, Luke, Anna, Caleb, and Nathan; sister, Angela Howard and husband Mike of Tampa, FL.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers from Stat Home Health, the hospital staff of Highland Schumpert, Pathways Rehab, University Health, and the VA Hospital.
