BOSSIER CITY – Barbara died Saturday, May 9, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was born in Murston, Kent, England to George Ernest Goldfinch and Edith Mae Short Goldfinch. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Andrew, and her sister, Audrey Bonny. She is survived by her husband, Don Mason, sister, Jacqueline Stears and husband, Trevor; sister, Marie Barnes; God-Son, Mark Stears; brother-in-law, Wilton Mason and wife Gloria; sister-in-law, Peggy Mouser and husband, James; brother-in-law, Huey Mason and wife, Donna and many special friends. Barbara was also a much loved aunt and great-aunt to a host of nieces and nephews.
Barbara and Don met on February 3, 1959 and married on May 13, 1961. They lived in many places during their marriage but the majority of the time was in the Washington, D.C. area. Barbara retired from the Federal Government where she had worked as a Budget Analyst. They moved on Willow Lake, a retirement community in Bossier City, LA in 2005 and she loved it there.
A memorial service with Rev. Basil “Buster” Page officiating, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Bailey Funeral Home, Springhill, LA. Immediately following the memorial service, the family will be receiving family and friends at the Springhill RV Park Building, 101 W. Church Street, for visitation and fellowship.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, at Bailey Funeral Home.
