Billy R. Martin
Bossier Parish, LA – A Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Mr. Billy R. Martin, 85, was held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Bossier City, LA, officiated by Pastor Nick Sorrell. Interment followed in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family received guests on Friday evening, October 12, 2018, from 5-7 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.
Billy was born on May 18, 1933, in Hall Summit, LA and passed away on October 10, 2018. As a boy, Billy was raised on a farm. After 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, he retired as SSgt. and continued in the work force as an owner/operator truck driver, security guard, and oil field worker. But what he loved doing most was raising crops in his own garden.
Billy had a generous heart and would share his bounty with anyone. You would often see him with a truck load of vegetables heading to the church to hand out what his garden produced.
Billy is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia, who passed away on September 21st; his brother, George Everett Martin; step-brother, Jim Knotts; and step-sister, JoAnne Knotts Breeding.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Pamela Martin; and his grandson, Richard Martin.
Honoring Billy as pallbearers were Richard and Robert Martin, and Christon and Cody Duke.
