Charles “Chuck” Goodman
Benton, LA – Charles “Chuck” Goodman was born on November 13, 1947 in Springhill, LA to William “Bill” Goodman and Maxine Cox Goodman. Charles passed from this world to join his Heavenly Father on August 30, 2018. He was a lifelong resident of Benton, LA. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held for close friends and family.
Charles graduated from Benton High School and continued his education at NSU majoring in Industrial Engineering. Wanting to get hands on experience he attended Shreveport Vocational College becoming a first class machinist, welder, pipe fitter and tool and die fabricator.
Charles achieved his lifetime dream and founded Hydro Dynamics, a company specializing in manufacturing aftermarket boating equipment and supplies. Charles was passionate about his work and in 2013 Hydro Dynamics’ celebrated its 30th anniversary.
He obtained several patents; the most notable the Rapid Jack jackplate which revolutionized manual jackplates of that era. As the company grew, he formed a subsidiary company Nitrox specializing in High Performance Boating. His products were featured in multiple magazines distributed nationally and internationally. Charles received many awards and accolades for his contributions to the boating industry.
Charles was received in Heaven by his parents, Bill and Maxine Goodman; his niece, Rose Ann Rankin; and his sister-in-law, Ann “Little Sis” St. Claire.
Left to carry on his legacy is his wife of 49 years, Debbie Barclay Goodman; Sisters: Linda Waggonner of Tyler, TX; Jane Carter of Georgetown, TX; Brother-in-laws: Jackie Waggonner of Tyler, TX; and Jack Barclay of Benton, LA; Nephews: George Rankin and wife Melissa; Mark Waggonner and wife, Martha; and Paul Waggonner; Nieces: Mary Creath and husband Greg; and Kelly Campbell and husband Kirby; as well as a host of family and friends.
The family of Charles wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Robert Massengill and all the staff of Grace Home Christus Hospice as well as to the family and friends that traveled through this journey since the day it started, always being there at any given time.
