Clara Mae Smith Guess

HAUGHTON, LA – Phil. 1:23 “… Having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.” Mrs. Guess, 95, went home to be with her Lord on November 10, 2017. Her parents were Lula Mae and Elva Cam Smith of Oak Grove, LA. She was a lifelong member of First Church of God.

She graduated from Shreveport Charity Hospital Nurse’s School in 1942. Mrs. Guess retired from Confederate Memorial Medical Center after 30 years of dedicated service. She was privileged to work as a private duty nurse for many years after her retirement. Nursing brought great joy and satisfaction to Mrs. Guess. She received many letters of gratitude from family members for the care she provided to their loved ones.

Mrs. Guess was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, of 54 years, six siblings and her sonin- law, Ray Turner. She is survived by her son, Doug Guess; daugh-ter, Debbie Guess Turner of Haughton, LA; grand children, RaeLynn Turner McNeil and husband Kyle; Lindsey Guess Molloy and her husband, Adam; and Justin Turner; great grandchildren, Carter and Hazel McNeil and Piper Molloy.

Special thanks to Hospice nurses Lisa and Kathy, as well as hospice aides Ann and Chenita for their kindness and compassionate care of our mother.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
A graveside service for Mrs. Guess is scheduled for 11:30 AM, Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Oak Grove, LA. Bro. Paul Ninemire will serve as officiant.
