HAUGHTON – Funeral services for Edward Ellis, age 83, will be held at 2 PM on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Hill Crest Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Haughton. Reverend Karl S. Klaus of the First Methodist Church of Bossier City will officiate the service at the chapel at Hill Crest. Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5PM to 7PM at the funeral home.
Edward Lee Ellis, 83, of Haughton, LA was born in Braggadocio, MO on October 4, 1932 and passed away peacefully on September 25, 2016.
Edward joined the Air Force at age 17 having never graduated from high school. He rose quickly through the ranks and eventually retired after 30 years of service as a Chief Master Sergeant while earning a Bachelors Degree from Park College of Missouri and a Masters Degree from Louisiana Tech University. He served as the Director of Adult Services at Frost Industries, a Division of C-BARC, for 20 years before finally retiring to Country Place in Haughton.
He is preceded in death by his mother Ora Helen Tortorello, his father Conley Gray Ellis, step father Dominick Tortorello, his brother Alan Ellis, and his sister Kimberly Lambroschino. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years June Cox Ellis; his son Scott Ellis and his wife Laura; his son Glenn Ellis and his wife Patty, his daughter Tracy Zaldivar and her husband Carlos, and his bothers Jimmy and Danny Tortorello. He was loved and will be missed by his six grandchildren Boston and Cayman Ellis, Zoi and Zachary Zaldivar and Wyatt and Lily Ellis.
The family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital￼ or the First United Methodist Church of Bossier City in lieu of flowers.
