BOSSIER CITY, LA – Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dona Horn Hutchings, 79, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Andy Harris of Central Assembly of God will officiate. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The Hutchings family will receive guests at the funeral home on Monday evening between 5-7 p.m.
Dona was one of three daughters born to Otto and Olga Mae Horn. She was born on May 28, 1935, in Natchitoches, LA. Dona joined her heavenly father on July 11, 2014. She passed away peacefully with her husband by her side.
Dona was many things to many people. First and foremost, she was a Godly woman and is now in Heaven celebrating with her oldest son, Michael. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nanny who gave her life to helping others and was a faithful member of First Baptist Bossier until poor health hindered her attendance. As a devoted military wife, she traveled the world with her husband and lived in many places including Okinawa, Japan and Panama Canal Zone. Dona was a loving Christian woman who will be deeply missed!
Dona was preceded in death by her parents; and her oldest son, Michael Horn Hutchings. She is survived by her husband of 61 years and high-school sweetheart, Hal D. Hutchings; son, John Chesley “Chess” Hutchings, II and wife, Kimberly; daughter, Susan Hutchings Holtzclaw and husband, Lee; sisters, Betty Gene Horn Todd and Judy Horn Guillot; grandchildren, LeAnna Holtzclaw Bailey and husband Chase, Chelsea Holtzclaw, Allie Hutchings, Julie, Maury, Anna, and Madison; and great-grandchild, Parker.
Pallbearers are Zane Nipper, David Nipper, Chase Bailey, Ben Boswell, and Dr. Larry Flake. Honorary pallbearers are Elton Richie and Travis Holtzclaw.
