Obituary: Earline Riggs


HAUGHTON – A Mass of Christian burial for Earline Broussard Riggs, age 63, of Haughton, LA will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, September 22, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 602 Church Ave. Kaplan, La. 70548. Celebrating the Mass will be Reverend Father Miles. Visitation will be held Thursday September 21, 2017 beginning at 9:00 AM and continuing throughout the day with the Rosary recited at 7:00 PM at Vincent’s Funeral Home, 300 N. Elearzar Ave. Kaplan, LA 70548. Final Rights of Interment will be conducted at Abshire Cemetery in Kaplan, La.

Pallbearers will be Tristan Halbrook, Chris Broussard, Jeffery Broussard, Keith Broussard, Tony Broussard and Aaron Ford. 

A Memorial Service will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, Haughton, LA at 6 PM on Monday September 25, 2017.

Mrs. Riggs was born July 12, 1954 in Gueydan, LA and passed away Monday September 18, 2017 in Haughton, LA after a 15 year courageous battle from stroke complications.

Earline is survived by her husband of 40 years, Charles Leland Riggs of Oregon. She is also survived by her sister Ethel Broussard Abshire. She was preceded in death by her father Lovelace Andrew Broussard and mother Alice Mire Broussard and two brothers; Curtis and Colbert Broussard.

She was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Bossier City. She was an avid member of the Ladies Guild at St. Jude’s Catholic Church and worked in the medical field for over 35 years. Her hobbies were making people laugh and spreading joy and her faith to everyone she met.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Father Karl Diagle, the Willis Knighton ICU doctors and nurses, Denise Richardson, Administrator of Pilgrim Manor North along with the nurses who cared for her for over 7 years at Pilgrim Manor North. 

Memorial Flowers may be sent to Vincent’s Funeral Home in Kaplan, La and to Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home for the Memorial Service.
