Obituary: Frances “Jean” Smith

BOSSIER CITY – Services for Frances “Jean” Smith will be 3 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel with Rev. Graham Riggs officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. Visitation will be Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rose-Neath Bossier.

Jean was born in Fulton, Arkansas on August 23, 1930 to Ruby and Richard Yarbrough and passed away March 8, 2017 in Bossier City, LA. She was a life-long homemaker, deeply involved in her church and volunteer work at Veterans Hospital in Shreveport. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband James W. Smith and her parents.

Jean is survived by her sons, N. Gary Berger and wife Debra, Clifton Burger and wife Dianne; daughters, Gayle Tabor and husband Mike, Clara Faircloth and husband Greg, and Sandy Spinks and husband Bob; brothers, Clifton Yarbrough, Richard Yarbrough; sister, Alice Haggaman; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephew and friends.

Honoring Jean as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Deere, Dr. San Pedro and the staff at Willis-Knighton Bossier Critical Care Unit and her church family at First Christian Church of Bossier City, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home, 3130 Arthur Ray Teague Pkwy, Bossier City, LA 71112.
