Obituary: Gillie Jean Kruithof

BOSSIER CITY – A Celebration of life service will be held for Gillie Jean Chandler Kruithof on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. The service will be officiated by Rev. Peter Tidovsky of Waller Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home.

Jean was especially gifted with children, and amazed family and friends with her awesome cookies, pralines, and sausage balls. She retired from the Bossier Parish Schools following a career in the Special Education Department at Bossier High School and other schools in the Parish. She ministered in the preschool department at Waller Baptist Church. She was active on the Benevolent Committee at her church. She helped start the Mansfield Mission in Bossier City and served as their Treasurer. Jean graduated from Haughton High School and attended Princeton Baptist Church in Princeton LA., before moving to Airline Baptist when she married Neal.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her love for her family and her unwavering faith and love for her Lord and Savior will be her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gillie Matilda Chandler; her first husband Leslie Kilgo and husband, Neal Kruithof. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Annie Roach, Bessie Hines, Doris Walden, Eleanor French, Dorothy Cook and brothers, Frank,Jr., L.C. and George Chandler.

Jean is survived by her devoted sons, Kenneth Neal Kruithof and wife Judy of Bossier City, LA., Larry M. Kilgo and wife Cherie of Vicksburg, MS., daughters, Cynthia Ann Chandler and husband Billy of Calhoun City, MS and Cheryl Gay Anderson and husband Steve of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Kevin Kruithof and wife Annell of Sacramento, CA, Kelly Kruithof of Bossier City, LA, Damien Brent Griffin and Tracy of Bossier City, LA, Billy Sherman Chandler of Calhoun City, MS., Joy Reger of Vicksburg, MS., Jena Soltys and husband Doug of Pittsburg, PA, Kaylee Kilgo of Vicksburg, MS., Lauren Edwardes and husband Brad of Alexandria, LA., Lindsey Anderson of Bossier City, LA.

She is also survived by her loving sister, Mary Grace Woodward of Haughton, LA and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Honoring Momma as pallbearers are her grandsons, Kevin Kruithof, Damien Brent Griffin, Billy Sherman Chandler, Brad Edwardes, Hunter Brobst, and nephews Rocky and Ricky French, Wayne, Jerry and James Walden, Randy Chandler, James Roach and Glenn Woodward.

Memorials may be made to Waller Baptist Church, Bossier City LA.
