Jimmy Morrell Wiggins

Grimesland, NC – Mr. Jimmy Morrell Wiggins, 65, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at his home.

 A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 11 am at Eastwood Baptist Church, Haughton with Rev. Les Colvin and Rev. Don Francis officiating. A private committal will be held at a later date.

A native of Bienville Parish, Louisiana, Jimmy has made his home in Pitt County for the last 10 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during Vietnam and retiring with 26 years of service. He continued in Civil Service duty until 2005 retiring with a total of 37 years of service. He spent his entire military service at Barksdale Air Force Base in the 917th Wing of the Air Force Reserve Command. He was a member of Grace Church in Greenville and a previous member of Eastwood Baptist Church in Haughton, Louisiana.

Jimmy will be fondly remembered as a gentle and reserved person who often was accommodating to the needs of others. He had a sense of humor and was a man of strong faith who served his churches as both a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing since he was 5 years old. He was also a well-read man and quite a history buff. He loved his granddaughters and they were his “Sweet Pea and Punkin”. His favorite teams were the LSU Tigers and the Oakland Raiders. A loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, Jimmy will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved him.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Alice Wiggins.

He is survived by wife of 45 years, Patricia “Pat” Morgan Wiggins; daughters, Wendy Wiggins Ayscue husband, Allen, and Cindy Wiggins; granddaughters, Morgan and Ella Ayscue, all of Grimesland; sister, Sandra Smith and husband James, of Crescent City, FL; brother, Toney France of Keyser, WV; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10 to 11 am at the church.
