June McAdams

Bossier City, LA – June McAdams was born June 21, 1935 in Mildenhall, England. She accepted Christ on December 13, 1952 at the age of 17. She left England by ship for the USA in 1954. She traveled from one side of the USA to the other with her husband, Ben T. McAdams, while he was in the service. They lived in El Paso, TX, San Francisco, CA, Fort Walton, FL, Chanute, IL, and Niagra Falls, NY.

Every move was an adventure exploring new country sides and appreciating the beauty of trees, flowers, mountains, and streams. In 1971 Ben and June chose to retire in Bossier City where they placed their membership in the First Christian Church. June became a deaconess in the church and was worship chairman there for many years. Mrs. McAdams passed peacefully on May 25, 2018 at the age of 82.

June was an animal lover and her pet dogs always played a big part in her life. Her goal in life was to see her husband and children happy and later her grandchildren. She kept the family close by having family dinners every month and for every occasion. She was only a phone call away for any problem. To sum her life up, she was a proud wife, mother and grandmother.

June was a member of The British Wives Club and The Barksdale Widows club.
Awaiting her in heaven are her husband of 47 years, Ben T. McAdams, and her mother and father, Charles and Enid Ranns. Left to treasure her memory is her loving companion, Don McCullough, her children Donnalyn Dickerson and partner Steve Davis, Ben McAdams, Jr. and wife Jana, Laura Lyons and husband Jay; her grandchildren Michael and Matthew Dickerson, Ben III and Jeremy McAdams, and Samantha, Lacey and Tiffany Halphen; her great-grandchildren Danity and Dallas McAdams; her brother Owen Ranns and wife Theresa; and her cousin Mary and husband Oliver Howie in Australia.

A Life Celebration service was held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday May 29, 2018 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. Pastor Joe Whitney served as officiant. The family welcomed friends to a visitation held from 2 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Michael and Matthew Dickerson, Ben III and Jeremy McAdams, Jay Lyons and Steve Davis.

The family would like to give special thanks for the loving care of Don McCullogh, Alice Evans, Cynthia Holmes, the staff of the Chateaus at Montclair, Heritage Manor Stratmore, Medistar Home Health (Amanda and Jay), and LifePath Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her name to the Shreveport/ Bossier Alzheimer’s Association.
