Larry McGowan was born in Boston, MA. He joined the USAF and served his country in Korea. Upon discharge, he settled in Bossier City. He was married to Jeanne Marie Wallace, the love of his life, for 55 years until her death in 2009. They raised 8 sons together. His last years were spent with his treasured friend, Wanda Allen.
Larry enjoyed a long career in the automobile business, selling Volkswagens and Chevrolets. He retired from Chevy Land as Lease Manager. Larry never met a stranger and had many friends. He was proud of his Irish heritage and hosted a St. Patrick’s Day Party for 29 years where many tall tales were told.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 siblings, and 6 sons. He is survived by 2 sons, 1 sister and a host of loving family members and friends.
Larry was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and a Lay Eucharistic Minister. A graveside service conducted by Fr. Karl Daigle will be held on Thurs., Oct. 20th at 1:00 pm at NW LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA with a reception following at the Knights of Columbus Hall on E. Texas in Bossier City.
