Layton Edward Wehling of Bossier City, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was called home by his Heavenly Father on Thursday March 17th 2016. Funeral services will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home. Visitation will be 4-7pm on Monday March 21, 2016 and funeral service will be 2pm on Tuesday March 22, 2016.
He was born February 11, 1931 on a farm in Royalton, New York. Layton enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 1950 and served 3 years. He spent his career selling insurance with Metropolitan Life Insurance which brought him to Bossier City. In 1981, after he had retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance, he went to work at Barksdale Air Force Base in civil service where he was currently employed. He enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve and served until 1991, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant.
He was a member of the Masonic Order, Martin McClanahan Lodge No. 384. He had attained all of the Masonic degrees including Scottish Rite and Shriner degrees.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his 8 siblings, wife Jean Wehling and daughter Vicki Wehling.
Layton is survived by his daughter Roxanne Santoro, husband Robert, son Rick Wehling, wife Lori; grandson Josh Wehling, wife Ida, granddaughters Amy Smith, husband Cade, Lori Wilson, husband Jason, Alicia Wehling, Michelle Parker, husband Ryan; great-grandchildren Olivia, Peyton, Jacob, Gavin, Mya and sister-in-law Betty Wehling.
He had a servant’s heart, will be greatly missed, and his family celebrates his life.
