HAUGHTON – A Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret Fisher Adkins will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Benton, LA. Celebrant will be Father Pike Thomas. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Margaret was born in Vicksburg, MS on September 8, 1928 to Olive Mae (Bobbye) and Arnold Marion Fisher and passed away peacefully on October 5, 2017 in Haughton, LA at home with family. She retired from Bossier Parish School System after 28 years of teaching, having taught at Haughton High School and Bossier Parish Community College. She was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy in Shreveport, LA and LA Tech University in Ruston, LA. She had been an original member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Doyline, LA, St. Jude and Christ the King in Bossier City, LA.

She was a founding member of the ADK Upsilon Chapter, original member of the BPCC “Sweet Tarts” and belonged to the Centenary College Senior Writers. Margaret enjoyed reading, writing, learning new things, traveling, clogging, and most of all just being with her family and friends having a good time!

Margaret is survived by her husband of 68 years, Calvin (Pete) Adkins of Haughton, LA; sons, David W. Adkins and wife Karen of Franklin, TN and Paul F. Adkins of Haughton, LA; daughter, Lois Ann Adkins of Haughton, LA; grandsons, Chris Adkins and wife Rebeka of Spring Hill, TN, Calvin and Matthew Adkins of Haughton, LA; great granddaugh-ter, AnnaLeigh Adkins and great grandson Asher Adkins of Spring Hill, TN; sister, Lois Wood of Spring Branch, TX; very special niece, Laura Conway (Michael) of Spring Branch, TX.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Ted Warren and staff for many years of compassionate care and to Willis-Knighton Hospice for their overwhelming love and support to Mama and our family in these past days.
