Myrtis O’Quinn “Nana” Hernandez

SHREVEPORT, LA – Graveside services for Myrtis O’Quinn “Nana” Hernandez, 87, will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Rose-Neath Cemetery, Bossier City, LA. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:30 until 12:30 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Ted Hardan.

Myrtis was born in Clarence, LA on April 17, 1928 to Adrian E. and Mary Lou Wallette O’Quinn, and passed away after a long battle with ALS on December 26, 2015. Myrtis had a full life. She found true happiness when she married John Hernandez in 1978. Myrtis made beautiful quilts and Raggedy Ann Dolls, which she gave to her loved ones and she was an excellent seamstress. She was a member of Country Side Christian Church. We will cherish her memories and all that knew her will miss her.

Myrtis was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Hernandez; parents; granddaughter, Emily Gary; four sisters; two brothers.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her children Michael Pierce and wife, Carliss of Benton, LA, Jeri Kay Pierce of Shreveport, LA, Debbie Satterfield and husband Rick of Buford, GA, Wanda Parish of Shreveport, LA, Eddie Pierce and wife Sandi of Ridgeley, WV; sister, Merry Jo Grayson and husband, George of Natchitoches, LA; brothers, Louis O’Quinn and wife Carol of Flora, LA, David O’Quinn and wife Alethea of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Janna, Ashley, Allison, Michael, John, Laura, and Cody; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Honoring Myrtis as pallbearers will be Michael Fussell, John Gary, Ben Hammett, Jamie Mangus, Cody Parish, and Adam Sepulvado.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kennedy Lim, sitters Cloteal Wray and Yvonne Gay, administration and staff at Colonial Oaks Care Center, and the nurses at Aime Hospice Care, and the staff of the Pain Care Consultants.
