Nell R. Charney
A memorial Service honoring the memory of Nell R. Charney will be held at Sainte Terre Chapel, 190 Nickel Lane, Benton, Louisiana, December 18 at 2:00 PM with Tom Moore officiating. Mrs. Charney Passed from this life Oct. 28, 2015, at Willis Knighton Hospital, Bossier City, LA, following a brief illness. Mrs. Charney, or “Auntie Nell” as she was known to her family, was born Aug 4, 1926, in Birmingham, Alabama. She attended J.H. Phillips High School and graduated as a National Honor Society Member. Much of her adult life was spent in New York City and New Orleans, in 2005 she was forced to abandon her second floor apt. as the Katrina flood waters rose. After being flown to San Antonio, Texas, with other refugees she relocated to Bossier City where she spent the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Charney and is succeeded by one sister Patricia Rowe Moore, one nephew Tom Moore and three grand nieces, holly Moore Schrieber, Hillary Moore Moss, and Kelsey Moore all of Benton. Auntie Nell was a member of the Eastwood Church of Christ where she will be remembered as a dear and caring friend of all its members.
