BOSSIER CITY – Services celebrating the life of Norman E. Wright, Sr., 77, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Cypress Baptist Church, 4701 Palmetto Rd, Benton, LA. Reverend John Fream and Reverend Tommy Patton officiated. Interment followed at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Norman passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City after a lengthy illness. He was born on July 13, 1939 in Palmerton, PA and grew up in Leighton, PA. He joined the United States Air Force in 1957 after graduating high school. He continued his education at the University of Southwestern Louisiana and graduated with a BA while working at Cleco in Lafayette, LA.
Norman later moved to Pineville, LA to continue his career in the oil and gas industry in Alexandria, LA, and Lafayette, LA and continued his journey to Austin, TX before retiring in Bossier City, LA.
Norman enjoyed traveling with his family and was active in the church. He enjoyed going out to eat every Friday night and the dessert was his favorite part of the meal.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Helen Wright, four children; Angela Haacker and husband Chris, Norman “Eddie” Wright, Jr., Linda Bailey and husband Jim and William “Bill” Wright and wife Tammy, grandchildren; Eric Haacker, Clifton Haacker, Walter Haacker, Elliese Wright, Emily Wright, Sophie Wright, Ruby Wright, Elijah Wright and Alyssa Wright, sister; Dorothy Coombe and many in laws, nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to his many doctors and nurses as well as all of the staff at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home who took care of him during the last two and a half years.
