Richard A. Doane
Richard A. Doane, 59, of Bossier City, LA, died suddenly June 30, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born in Marblehead, MA on February 22, 1957, Mr. Doane was raised in West Monroe, LA. He was an avid animal lover, friend to many, political and social humorist, and Renaissance man for fixing all things mechanical.
Mr. Doane is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Sanders Doane, and two daughters: Bridget Doane and husband Grey Hubbard of Minneapolis, MN; Erica Jones and husband Thomas of Portland, OR; a sister: Sharon Doane Hepner of Victorville, CA; a brother: Michael Berger Doane and wife Mirjam of Minnetonka, MN; two nieces and three nephews, and many dear friends. Mr. Doane was preceded in death by his older brother, David H. Doane, Jr.; and mother, Carmele Doane Modisette.
While much can be written to describe the impact that Richard had on those who knew him, a reflection by his youngest niece, Jenna Hepner, speaks to it well: … someone who loved his wife more than anything, who loved good southern cooking, who was an incredible artist and who could name everything about any car that passed by, (and) who always told me how thankful he was for what good life had been given to him.
A Memorial service will be conducted for Mr. Doane on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath’s Bossier Chapel. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, please mail donations to Ninna’s Road to Rescue, 6 Sterling Ranch North, Haughton, LA 71037, or visit www. roadtorescuela.org; or call 318-949-6875. Please include “in memory of Richard Doane.”
