BOSSIER CITY – Services for Robert E. Way will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, August 13, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Robert was born in Frost, TX to Earl and Ione Way on June 30, 1930. He passed away at home after a lengthy battle with lung cancer on August 11, 2015. Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather to a blended family. He served his country in the Air Force for over 26 years and reached the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a member of Chief Chat. On his visits to the cemetery he would replace worn and tattered flags for his fellow veterans. Bob enjoyed fishing on the Little River in Arkansas, watching the Cowboys and he was a booster for the Shreveport Captains.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles Way, brother-in-law Namon Yates and sister-in-law Alicia Way. Bob is survived by his wife Eileen P. Way, sister Jerolyn Yates of Robinson, TX, daughter Susen Way of Bossier City, LA, sons Stanley Way and wife Jane Mary of Tucson, AZ and Steven Way of Dallas Metroplex, TX, step-daughters Deanna Russell and husband Verl of Keithville, LA and Susan Leighton and husband Bill of Huntsville, AL, nephew James Webster of Shreveport, LA and four step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Margaret and the staff of Willis Knighton Hospice for the care they gave Robert.
