HAUGHTON, LA – Services celebrating the life of Roderick Crowley, 82, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. Interment with full military honors will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, June 2 from 5:00-7:00.
Roderick a longtime resident of Haughton was born January 2, 1934 (“1,2,3,4 and don’t you forget it”) in Ponca City, OK and died on May 31, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He retired after 22 years of service with the United States Air Force where he served as an instructor and flight engineer on C-130 Aircraft also serving in Korea and Vietnam. Roderick was a member of DAV, VFW, American Legion and the Elks Club and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Crowley was preceded in death by his parents; Jay and Harriet Crowley, first wife, Billie Ruth Crowley, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Tommie Miller Crowley; his sons, Rodney and wife Melissa, Robby and wife Rachel, Ryon and wife Era; step-children, Nancy Nesbit, Mark Newman, Curtis Newman and wife Julie; sisters, Barbara Crocker and Helen Dorsett. Also surviving are his 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Fritz, III.
