Following his military retirement, he worked for the Bossier Parish School Board for 10 years at Apollo Elementary. He was a very loving and faithful Christian man, and was active in church prior to becoming ill. He was a member of the Prayer Line, as well as the NRA and Veterans Association.
Joe loved the outdoors and spent many hours at his camp hunting, fishing, riding his ATV, and sitting around the campfire listening to Willie Nelson. He loved to cook, whether at home, or large cookouts for the entire family. He enjoyed the sports of boxing and football, and always enjoyed a good cup of coffee. He loved to give back and volunteered at Asbury United Methodist Church and Believers Worship Center. He also helped build the playground at the original St. Jude Catholic Church. Joes’ biggest pleasure was spending quality time with, and providing for his family.
