Homegoing Celebration of Sister Mattie Cooper Coleman was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Antioch Baptist Church, 724 Butler Street, Bossier City, LA. Rev. Tony Hunter officiated. Interment followed at Carver Cemetery.

Sister Mattie Cooper Coleman departed this life on August 22, 2014. She was born January 29, 1933 to Joe and Gertrude Cooper.

She was educated in Bossier Parish School System. Mattie furthered her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was in one of the first graduating class for LPN at the Confederate Memorial Hospital (1955).

She was united in marriage to Willie I. Coleman. To this union four children were born.

Mattie joined Mount Canaan Baptist Church, March 19, 1972 under the leadership of Pastor Harry Blake. She was a faithful member of the Church and served in the Adult choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Gertrude Cooper and husband, Willie I. Coleman.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Robin (Tony); Carolyn; Shun (Tommie); and Wendell (Veronica); four grandchildren, Jessica, Tony Jr., Darius, Tommie Jr., and Sky; four great grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Geneva); two sisters, Bessie (Jack), and Mary; three sisters-in-law, Melvina, Claudette, and Rose; two brothers-in-law, Phillip and Herbert, and a host of other relatives and friends.
