Bossier City, LA – Services for Tommy Ray Beasley, 87, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel. Interment will follow in Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tommy, T.R. as he was affectionately was called by his wife and the love of his life, Barbara, was born on July 11, 1930 in Shreveport, LA to Maxine and Lee Beasley and passed away May 26, 2018 in Bossier City, LA.

As a young man, he excelled in the sport of boxing with at least 60 amateur fights and two professional fights. An opportunity to continue fighting professionally in New Orleans was offered, but he realized that it would break his mother’s heart. He then quit boxing professionally, saying it was one of the best decisions that he ever made.

He was a former Bossier Parish Deputy Sheriff and retired as a U.S. Deputy Marshall after 20 years. After his retirement he worked security at the Federal Court House. Tommy was a long-time member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

Tommy is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Beasley, son, Glenn Beasley and his parents. He is survived by his son, Tommy R. Beasley, Jr and wife Kimberly; daughter, Dixie Jean Beasley (Joe); grandchildren, Rocky Beasley and wife Valerie, Dalton Young and wife Micah; step-grandchildren, Kourtney, Devin and Ryan McCauley; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Vann, and Alaina; nieces, Teri Millen, Gail Janssen and June Marsh and “adopted daughter”, Karla Vosbery.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Donna Massey and Chelsie Swaney for the great care they gave Tommy during his time at home.

Honoring Tommy as pallbearers will be, Josh Smith, Cameron Villa, Michael Morgan, Joel Marsh, Dalton Young and Rocky Beasley. Honorary pallbearers will be, Judge Marsh and Dylan Marsh.
