BLANCHARD — Verna Moore Young, 82, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2015. She was born on February 19, 1933, to Elisha and Mamie (Hicks) Moore of Wisner, Louisiana. She married Quinton Theo Young on July 20, 1950. She was a long-time resident of Blanchard, Louisiana. She retired from the Caddo Parish School Board and served the Lord through her works in the Ladies’ Ministry at First Baptist Church Blanchard.
She is survived by her husband Quinton Theo Young, son and daughter-in-law Larry and Linda Young, son and daughter-in-law Dr. Ray and Debi Young, and son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Lauren Young; grandchildren: Crystal (Young) Burris, Jennifer (Young) Bailey, Kathryn Young, Amy (Young) Havens, Linda (Young) Tutton, Adam Young, Erin (Young) Hodges, Lacey (Young) MacRae, and Whitney (Young) Moore; great-grandchildren: Levi, Ethan, JT, Isaac, RaeAnne, Sawyer, Cutter, Boone, Kaitlyn, Bryleigh, Jamiee, Charley, Brodie, Kristen, Kaci, Mackenzie, Lindsey, and Wesley; and brother Bobby Moore.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July, 17, 2015, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at First Baptist Church Blanchard. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at First Baptist Church Blanchard, 201 Attaway Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, officiated by Dr. Doug Allen, Dr. Ray Young, and Chaplain Kevin Young. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Jason Havens, Levi Havens, Ken Lawler, Shane Moore, Jon Tutton, Toby Wileman, and Adam Young
