William Dodwell “W.D.” Jones
ELM GROVE, LA – A Celebration of Live Service for William Dodwell Jones, 92, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, LA, with Rev. Billy Pierce and Rev. Calvin Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Cemetery, Haughton, La. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the funeral home.
W.D. was born September 9, 1925, to Mattie Dodwell Jones and Thomas Edward Jones and went to be with his Lord and Savior October 1, 2017. W.D. enlisted and was proud to have been in the United States Navy and on the Submarine Squadron and Pacific Theatre. He was the Co-Founder of Jones Brothers Company, Inc., and Jones Environmental, Inc. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Barksdale Baptist Church. W.D. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His most favorite time was spent with his grandsons, teaching them all about growing up and being good men. W.D. loved the outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting or traveling to enjoy nature’s wonders, and snow skiing until the age of 82. He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Preceding W.D. in death were his parents, his three brothers, and two sisters. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 72 years, Marie Hinkie Jones; sons, Donald Edward Jones and wife, Gay Lynn, and William Joseph Jones and wife, Terri; grandchildren, Thomas Edward Jones, II and wife Camille, Jacob Marchand Jones and wife Callie, Cameron Dodwell Jones and wife Emily, Kent Gardner Jones and wife Leslie, William Tyler Jones; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Grayson, Abbey, Anna, Evelyn, Lily, Oliver, Dorothy, Cece, and Palmer.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Dan Moller, and the staff at Northwest LA War Veterans Home, and Regional Hospice, for their compassionate care given to our father, and our family during this most difficult time.
Honoring W.D. as pallbearers will be his loving grandsons. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Barksdale Baptist Church, the employees of Jones Brothers Company, Inc., and Jones Environmental, Inc.
