One dead in overnight shooting, suspect in custody

UPDATE: The victim of last night’s homicide has been identified as Danny Earl Litton Jr., 37, of Shreveport.

Bossier City police are investigating the fatal shooting of man that occurred overnight during a verbal altercation at a local mobile home park.


Police were call to the Pepper Point Mobile Home Park in the 6000 block of East Texas Street at approximately 11:15 p.m. Monday in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived on the scene they found the victim lying in the street in front of a residence with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Officers immediately performed CPR on the victim until Bossier City Fire Department personnel got to the scene. The victim was taken to University Health in Shreveport where he was pronounced dead.

A little over an hour later the suspect turned himself over to police at BCPD headquarters. He’s identified as Christopher Brandon Phillips, 27, of Bossier City. Phillips was subsequently arrested for second degree murder and booked into the Bossier City Jail.

The name of the victim is not yet being released pending notification of next of kin.
