Long-serving Clerk of Court announces she will not seek re-election

I would like to officially announce that I will not be seeking re-election as the Bossier Parish Clerk of Court this year.

Cindy Johnston (1)I have been blessed and honored to have served the residents of Bossier Parish for the past four decades. [can remember starting out as a Deputy Clerk in [976, then as Chief Deputy in 1998, and have been privileged to serve as the Clerk of Court since 2008.

Over the past four decades, Bossier Parish has seen immense growth and change. We have seen the courthouse renovations, expansions to meet the needs of the residents, and two oil & gas booms, one in 1980′ s and the most recent Haynesville Scale.

My departure from public office is bittersweet since I have been blessed to have served with one of the best staffs any Clerk and community could desire. Our deputy clerks work tirelessly for our residents, and I want to say “thank you” for their years of support and dedication. I know they will continue to serve with the utmost level of professionalism and service to the residents of Bossier Parish.

My relationship with the agencies within the Bossier Parish Courthouse has been outstanding, and this community is honored to have such professionals in their Bossier Parish Sheriffs Office, Bossier Parish Police Jury, Bossier Parish Tax Assessor’s Office, District Attorney’s Office and Bossier Parish Judge’s Office, as well as the superb public agencies throughout Bossier Parish.

I will now be able to spend more time with my family, particularly my grandson, who is growing faster day by day. Although I will continue to serve as the Clerk until after the election later this year, I want to take this chance to extend my appreciation to my staff and the residents of Bossier Parish for the wonderful opportunity to have served and worked for you. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you.
