Parish teams fare well in Dixie district tournaments

Bossier Parish teams made their presence felt in Dixie Baseball District 4 All-Star tournaments in Minden over the weekend.

The AAA (10-year-olds) tournament looked a lot like last week’s Sub-District tournament at Walbrook Park as the Bossier City and Benton All-Stars advanced to the winners’ bracket finals.

Benton, which defeated Bossier for the Sub-District title, downed Ruston 14-3 and Nola 13-0. Bossier defeated the Minden Nationals 17-7 and Union Parish 9-3.

In the 12s O-Zone tournament, the Bossier All-Stars rolled into today’s championship round with victories over Shreveport and DeSoto.

In the AAA 9s tournament, the Benton All-Stars defeated the Haughton All-Stars 10-9 in the first round before falling to the Shreveport Nationals in the winners’ bracket finals. Benton faced Union Parish in an elimination game Sunday.

The Haughton All-Stars advanced to the World Series with a doubleheader sweep of Ruston, 22-7 and 9-8, in the O-Zone 11s tournament in Ruston. The World Series will be played in West Monroe.
