Parkway duo sweep XC titles in Miss. meet

CLINTON, Miss. — Parkway’s Alison Ringle and Hayden Kingfisher won the girls’ and boys’ divisions, respectively, in the St. Andrews Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Mississippi College.

 

Ringle covered the 4K course in 14 minutes, 53.56 seconds. She defeated runner-up Rebecca Buteau of Madison Central by about 20 seconds. The girls’ division had a field of 185.

 

Kingfisher ran a 16:29.28 5K, defeating runner-up Andrew White of Tupelo High School by about 23 seconds. There were 214 competitors in the boys’ field.

 

Parkway finished second in the girls’ team competition with 73 points. Madison Central won with 46.

 

Parkway’s Sara Funderburk finished fifth in 16:31.54. Other Lady Panthers in the scoring were Ariel McGaffey (21st, 17:24.90), Destiney McGaffey (22nd, 17:26.13) and Cassidy Cummings (28th, 17:52.38).

 

Parkway finished third in the boys’ team competition with 107 points. Other Panthers in the scoring were Nathan Poovey (19th, 18:12.54), Zac Funderburk (21st, 18:15.07), Simon Moradel (32nd, 18:45.13) and David Morgan (42nd, 19:10.30).
