The Parkway girls cross country team is ranked No. 1 in the state in Louisiana Running’s preseason poll, which includes all classes.

Defending Class 4A state champion Benton is ranked sixth in the boys’ poll.
Parkway finished third in Class 5A last season, one point out of second place.
Individual runner-up Alison Ringle is back for her senior year. Three other members in the scoring last season were also underclassmen — 13th-place Jayni Wilcher, 37th-place Jessica McGuffee and 39th-place Destiny McGaffey.
Four of the five Benton runners who finished in the scoring last season were underclassmen — third-place Drake Heinz, fifth-place Alex Whittington, 19th-place Stephen Singleton and 26th-place Ryder Miller.
