A Parkway student won a $1,000 scholarship in the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts Art Contest.
Parkway High School student Alexis Nicholson-Edie won 2nd Place in the Junior category for her “Whooping Grace” composition.
She was awarded a $1,000 scholarship during the foundation’s Art Contest Awards Luncheon presented by Chevron on March 22.
Over 700 students from around Louisiana entered the contest, the most entries to date. Due to the volume of entries and tie-breakers, GRFA awarded 16 seniors and five juniors a total of $50,000 in college scholarships.
The theme this year was “Louisiana’s Natural Beauty” in partnership with Audubon Nature Institute.
