The New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks will face off Saturday night in an NBA preseason opener at the CenturyLink Center.
Tipoff is 7 p.m.
The Pelicans are coming off a 36-52 season. The Mavericks were 42-40. Dallas lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder four games to one in the first round of the playoffs.
Pelicans 6-foot-5 rookie guard Buddy Hield will likely see his first action. Hield averaged 25.4 points and 5.7 rebounds last season, leading the Oklahoma Sooners to the Final Four where they lost to eventual national champion Villanova 95-51.
The Mavericks feature rookie guard Keith Hornsby, a former LSU player.
