The Plain Dealing Lions exacted some revenge against Green Oaks Thursday night, defeating the Giants 34-24 at Northwood’s Jerry Burton Stadium in the season opener for both teams.

Green Oaks, a Class 3A team, defeated Class 1A Plain Dealing 49-18 in last year’s season opener at Plain Dealing.

The Lions scored the first two touchdowns and never trailed.

Plain Dealing quarterback Logan Allen passed for two touchdowns and ran one yard for another in the first half as the Lions built a 20-12 lead.

His first TD pass went to Thomas Gay and covered 14 yards. The second came after the Lions recovered a fumble deep in their own territory. Allen hit Keldrick Carper for an 86-yard score.

Allen injured his left (non-throwing) shoulder late in the first half and did not play in the second.

Carper and Isaac Jacobs, normally a receiver, both played quarterback in the second half and the Lions kept the ball on the ground.

Carper rushed for 183 yards on 16 carries and scored on a 59-yard run. He also had two catches for 108 yards. Jacobs rushed for 51 yards on nine carries and scored on a 14-yard run. Jacobs also played well on defense with nine tackles and one forced fumble from his free safety position.

Allen gained 66 yards on 11 carries. He also completed nine of 15 passes for 165 yards.

Allen and Jarvis Washington had two-point conversion runs. Washington had four catches for 26 yards.

Cornerback Deandre Coleman and linebacker Jaylyn Woods had four tackles each.
