Plain Dealing routs Ringgold, improves to 5-1

Logan Allen threw five touchdown passes as the Plain Dealing Lions rolled past the Ringgold Redskins 52-6 Thursday night in a District 1-1A opener at Plain Dealing.

Plain Dealing improved to 5-1 overall. Ringgold dropped to 3-3.

Allen completed 14 of 22 passes for 376 yards. Keldrick Carper caught three passes and all three went for touchdowns. They covered 60, 72 and 11 yards.

Thomas Gay and Isaac Jacobs had touchdown catches of 75 and 37 yards, respectively.

Desean Morris rushed seven times for 91 yards and scored two touchdowns. Deandre Coleman had five catches for 77 yards.

Ringgold scored the first touchdown of the game, but Plain Dealing quickly answered and led 33-6 at the half.

Linebacker Bijan Mitchell led the defense with eight tackles. Linebacker Herbert McCauley had 4.5. Mitchell had an interception, and Ryan Penwell recovered a fumble. Shavolyea McKinney had two sacks.

Despite the margin of victory, Plain Dealing coach Coy Brotherton said it wasn’t a perfect game.

“We had a lot of penalties, most of them on offense,” he said. “There are some things we’ve got to eliminate.”

Plain Dealing visits Grambling next Thursday. Grambling (2-4) defeated Cedar Creek 8-7 Thursday night.
