Planned Ditch Cleanup and Replacement to Be Discussed at June 23 Community Meeting About Former Wood Treating Facility in Bossier City

 The Multistate Environmental Response Trust (Multistate Trust) and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) are cohosting a community meeting Monday, June 23 to discuss plans to remove contaminated soil along a drainage ditch and replace part of the ditch north of the former Tronox/Kerr-McGee Wood Treating Facility (Site) this summer.

Additional meeting topics will include upcoming residential yard cleanups, and next steps in the process of planning for potential, community-supported Site redevelopment, such as Site investigation, research into area market needs, community input, and continued discussions with potentially interested future owners.

Date: Monday, June 23, 2025

Time: 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m.

Location: Red River Missionary Baptist Church, 1831 Scott Street, Bossier City

The meeting will begin with a presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with Multistate Trust and LDEQ representatives, ask questions, and provide input. Food will be provided.

Meeting topics:

• Plans to excavate contaminated soil along open drainage ditch north of Jean Street, and replace ditch with enclosed concrete pipe

• Residential yard cleanups, ongoing surface soil sampling to determine need for further excavation, and other environmental work

• Positioning Site for productive, community-backed redevelopment, through Site investigation, research into area market needs, community input, and continued discussions with potentially interested future owners
