Work is underway on a new public restroom facility at the Bossier Parish War & Space Veterans Memorial Park near Tall Timbers subdivision on U.S. Hwy. 80 east of Red Chute in Bossier Parish.

Thomson General Contractors of Bossier City won the Bossier Parish Police Jury’s competitive bid on the project, which will cost $189,000. Parish officials said the restroom facility has long been needed at the park.

Work is expected to take approximately 90 days to complete.

Bossier Parish’s new parks and recreation department got a needed boost from a parish resident who donated a number of tools, including a generator, to help the fledgling department.

“Joann Seaman called and asked if we could use the tools that belonged to her late husband, William Kinsey Seaman,” said Warren Saucier, head of the parish parks and recreation. “She said she thought it might be helpful for a department that was just getting started.”

Saucier, who was a close friend with Kinsey Seaman, said the donation is a gift that is really appreciated.

“We’re really getting started as a department and we work on a pretty tight budget,” Saucier said. “There’s a nice variety of tools that are going to be put to good use.”
