Police officer recognized by NWLA Homes for Heroes

A realtor organization that assists members of the military, first responders and educators with purchasing homes paid tribute this week to a Bossier City police officer for his dedicated service to the community.

Northwest Louisiana Homes for Heroes presented Detective Michael Martinez with its Hero of the Month award this morning at the Bossier City Police Department.

Detective Martinez has been a member of the Bossier City Police Department for the past four years and is assigned as an investigator with the Property Crimes Unit. As such, Detective Martinez has been credited in solving multiple property crime cases including burglaries, thefts and incidents of vandalism. Detective Martinez also serves as member of the Bossier City Police Department’s S.W.A.T. team.

For being named the March 2014 Hero of the Month, representatives of Northwest Louisiana Homes for Heroes presented Detective Martinez with a special plaque along with a $100 gift card and a bouquet of flowers for his wife Katie.

Sergeant Mark Owens, Property Crimes Unit Supervisor and Captain Ed Joseph, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division accompanied Detective Martinez at today’s award presentation.
