Police seek suspect who robbed woman at knifepoint

Bossier City police are looking for a man who tried to rob a woman at knifepoint earlier this month.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit have secured an arrest warrant for Jose Emmanuel Urista Martinez, 21, whose last known address is in Opelousas, Louisiana. Martinez faces a charge of attempted armed robbery for trying to rob a woman on September 14, 2013 as she got into her car to leave the parking lot of Harrah’s Louisiana Downs.

During the confrontation Martinez pushed the woman down in the front seat of her car and demanded money from her. The victim sustained cuts to her hands and chest as she attempted to take away a knife that Martinez was holding at the time. The man then fled the scene on foot after not taking anything from the victim who was later taken to a local hospital by Bossier City Fire Department personnel to have her wounds treated.
