BOSSIER CITY – Services to celebrate the life of Polly Vann, 98, will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Airline Baptist Church, Thursday, November 21, 2013. Officiating will be Rev. Chad Mills and Rev. Harrell Shelton. The interment will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery in Haughton. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Pauline “Polly” Grigsby Vann was born April 20, 1915, in Ozark, Arkansas, to Dart E. and Georgia Ann Glover. She was married to Richard Jerome “Jack” Grigsby on January 24, 1933. They had four children: Richard Paul, Michael Duane, Polly, and Camille. Jack passed away August 21, 1971. Polly married Leo Vann April 10, 1978. Leo passed away April 24, 1991.

Polly was active in her church Airline Baptist. She worked with three and four-year-olds, helped in the office with mail outs, and helped Young-at-Heart in the kitchen. She volunteered at Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center for 20 years and served as secretary of Mothers’ Club. Polly’s awards included Volunteer of the Year at Schumpert, Lion of the Year, and 50-year member of Eastern Star. However, her greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Polly was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Jack Grigsby, her second husband Leo Vann, her daughter Camille Grigsby Thigpen, son Richard Paul Grigsby, her sister Vestal Duggins, her brother “Jack” Glover, her step-daughter Jeri Bond, and son-in-law Jimmy Goslin.

Polly is survived by her son Michael D. Grigsby and wife Jeanie; her daughter Polly Goslin; her ten grandchildren: Lynda Walker (Mike), J. R. Grigsby (Nancy), Mike Grigsby, Jr.(Courtney), Carolyn Regala (Alex), Suzanne NeJame (Michael), Jennifer Grigsby, Michael Goslin, Melissa Goslin Collins, Dawn Gosselin (Jeremy), and Thony David; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Abdehou, Dr. Jerome Danzell, Pilgrim Manor Bossier and their staffs for their wonderful care and friendship. Thanks also to her many special friends for their love, care and devotion.

Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers are J.R. Grigsby, Mike Grigsby, Jr., Michael Goslin, Alex Regala, Michael NeJame, and Jeremy Gosselin. Honorary pallbearers are J. W. Slack, Bill Nichols, Don English, Coy Elledge, Jim Tharp, Bill Mullinnix, Billy Bickham, and Dr. Hewitt McCuller.
