Both lanes of Shed Road just west of Airline Drive near the intersection of Doctors Drive have been closed this afternoon so that crews with the Utilities Department can work to repair a broken water main.
The affected main lies underneath Shed Road, so crews have had to bust out a small section of the east bound lane to make the repair which should take a couple of hours to complete.
Once the main is fixed, crews will backfill the area with dirt and pour concrete to replace the piece of the eastbound lane of Shed Road that had to be removed. The westbound lane of Shed Road is expected to reopen at after the concrete is poured however the eastbound lane is expected to remain closed for a few days so that the concrete can cure properly. The eastbound lane of Shed Road is expected to reopen as early as Friday. Please bear in mind that this scenario may change depending upon on how the repair work proceeds. In the meantime traffic is being detoured around the site via side streets.
Crews have managed to cut off water flow to the broken main in a way that prevents anyone from losing their water service.
