Positive Coronavirus case reported in Bossier Parish

Bossier Parish, LA – According to the Louisiana Department of Health (Office of Public Health), a positive Coronavirus case has been reported in Bossier Parish. Caddo Parish has the only other reported positive Coronavirus case in Northwest Louisiana.

The Louisiana Department of Health has reported 10 additional presumptive positive cases for Coronavirus in Louisiana, which now brings the statewide total to 77 presumptive positive cases. Updates can be seen at http://ldh.la.gov/Coronavirus.

Additionally, the Louisiana Department of Health reports that the state of Louisiana has reported it’s first death related to COVID-19. The death occurred in Orleans Parish and involved a 58-year-old individual with underlying health conditions. The patient was being treated at Touro Infirmary Hospital and Medical Center.

According to a New York Times report, as of Saturday afternoon, at least 2,443 people in 49 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico have tested positive for Coronavirus in the United States. And, according to a New York Times database, and at least 50 patients with the virus have died.

The Louisiana Department of Health is warning everyone to take the necessary precautions to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and stay safe and healthy.

These precautions include:

1.) Washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and    frequently

2.) Covering your cough or sneeze with your arm

3.) Avoiding touching your face

4.) Routinely clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces

5.) Avoiding close contact with others

6.) Staying home if you are sick
