Powerlifting: Parkway’s Strong wins Division I 123-pound title in state meet

Parkway’s Chris Strong won the Division I 123-pound weight class in the LHSAA Powerlifting State Championships meet Saturday at Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe.

Strong, a runner-up last year, had a squat lift of 505 pounds, a bench press of 265 and a dead lift of 325. His total of 1,095 pounds was 50 more than that of second place finisher Zach Montz of St. Paul’s.

String’s squat was 55 pounds more than his lift in the North Region tournament. He also increased his dead lift by 10 pounds while equalling his bench press.
